Alice in Chains Deliver a Heavy, Brooding Set at Bridgestone Arena
Bridgestone Arena — Nashville, TN | July 26, 2019
Alice in Chains brought a dark, emotionally weighty performance to Bridgestone Arena on July 26, 2019, showcasing the band’s ability to command a large arena with nuance, restraint, and sheer sonic force. Touring in support of Rainier Fog, the set struck a balance between legacy-defining material and newer songs, all delivered with a focused, no-frills intensity.
The strongest moments of the night came from essential tracks like “Man in the Box,” “Them Bones,” “Rooster,”and “Would?” Each landed with authority, driven by layered harmonies and Jerry Cantrell’s unmistakably thick guitar tone. William DuVall’s vocals blended seamlessly with Cantrell’s, reinforcing the band’s signature sound while keeping the performance grounded and disciplined rather than theatrical.
Additional songs included Check My Brain, Angry Chair, No Excuses, Down in a Hole, Bleed the Freak, We Die Young, Dam That River, Hollow, Rainier Fog, Again, and The One You Know, offering a broad snapshot of the band’s catalog across multiple eras.
Opening the night were Korn and Underoath, setting a heavy tone that carried through the evening.
The Nashville stop reaffirmed Alice in Chains’ lasting relevance—measured, powerful, and emotionally unflinching.
